Langara Continuing Studies, a division of Langara College, is dedicated to lifelong learning and public service through education. Integral to being a financially self-supporting component of the public post-secondary institution, Langara Continuing Studies advances continuing education activities that are community-driven and student-focused. Our employees are experienced professionals who strive to be responsive and accountable to those who are served.

Endeavouring to be resources and contributors to community life, Langara CS personnel participate in and support significant public issues and concerns. Leading practitioners, expert in their chosen field, are drawn from the community at large to advise and to teach. Collaborative programs with community organizations further enrich the learning environment of the College.

Langara CS reflects the College mission through a variety of programs, courses and activities that are designed to improve the intellectual, cultural, social, physical and economic well being of individuals and the community.

The College goals guide the work of Langara CS to:

  • Address the career advancement and individual changing needs of adult learners.
  • Enhance the intellectual and cultural life through programs in the humanities, languages and cultural arts.
  • Enrich the community's understanding of public issues that affect society.
  • Assist people to examine and enact the intellectual, political, social, philosophical and economic dimensions of personal growth.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs on a need basis for industry, government agencies and non-profits.


Beginning mid-August, the Fall 2004 Continuing Studies Catalogue will be delivered to many addresses in the area surrounding Langara College as well as to local libraries in the Greater Vancouver area. All the courses offered in the catalogue are also listed on this website. You may request a calendar by mail by phoning 604-323-5322.


Some classes fill quickly, only receipt of payment guarantees a place in a class.

  • PHONE IN ... 604-323-5322. Register by VISA or MasterCard, receipts will be mailed to your home.

  • DROP IN ... Register in person at the Continuing Studies office at Langara College. Pay by cheque, cash, debit or credit card.

  • MAIL IN ... Fill in a registration form (PDF Registration form) and send with a cheque or credit card information. Make cheques payable to Langara College. Sorry, we do not accept post-dated cheques.

  • The registration office will be closed on Saturdays in August.


The Continuing Studies office is closed and classes postponed during the following holidays:

  • Labor Day – September 4 6
  • Thanksgiving Day - October 9 - 11
  • Remembrance Day - November 1
  • Christmas - December 24 - 27


A minimum enrolment is required to recover the costs of the course. If that number is not reached, Continuing Studies reserves the right to cancel classes. Every attempt will be made to notify you in advance. A full refund wish will be processed automatically unless we are notified of your wish to hold the amount for a future course.


Tuition fees for eligible courses exceeding $100 within a calendar year are income tax-deductible. Please retain your receipt, as a charge of $10 will be made for duplicate receipts.


Courses that are designed to be taken primarily for recreational or general interest purposes are taxable. Any GST payable has been calculated and included for those courses affected.


Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, upon full receipt of tuition fees at the time of registration. If a course is full, you will be placed on a wait list. In some cases, another section of the course may be added. If a course seat becomes available, the person whose name is first on the list will be contacted.


Please Note: Certain programs and courses may have refund policies different from below. Please refer to the terms as described in specific programs and courses.

  1. Requests for refunds must be submitted within 48 hours of the start of the course or event. Late requests will be subject to a pro-rates charge in addition to an administration fee.
  2. For courses or events with two sessions or less, refund requests must be submitted one full weekday before course start date.
  3. All refunds are subject to an administration fee of 20% of the course/event fee (minimum $15 to a maximum of $35 per course).
  4. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals except under extraordinary circumstances. In such instances, refunds will be pre-rated from the date of application.

100% Refund Credit Alternative:
We would be pleased to hold a 100% credit of the registration fee toward taking another Langara Continuing Studies course. This credit is valid for 12 months.

Refund Payments: Fee payments made by credit card are refunded by means of a credit to your account. All other refunds are made by cheque. Please allow three weeks for processing refunds.


IACETIACET is the international organization for standards and certification for continuing education and training. Formed in 1977, the non-profit body promotes quality continuing education and training through research, education, standard setting and certification. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the membership included individuals, associations, businesses, industries, higher education institutions, government agencies, health organizations, regulatory agencies, proprietary schools and others.

The members work to:

  • Promote IACET standards as a benchmark for quality program delivery and certification.
  • Develop standards and procedures for certifying organizations.
  • Establish educational programs and resources on IACET’s standards for providers of continuing education and training.
  • Sponsor research projects aimed at enhancing standards of good practice in continuing education and training.


A CEU is defined as 10 hours of structured and direct instruction. CEUs are awarded for satisfactory completion of programs, courses and activities that are formally approved and meet well-defined criteria.


Students in need of disability services or accommodations may be eligible for assistance. Contact the Disability Services Coordinator at 604-323-5635 for and intake interview several weeks prior to the start of your course. You will be required to provide current documentation of your disability.


Langara College is committed to the principle that all members of the college community have the right to work and study in an environment free from harassment. The College does not condone and will not tolerate harassing behavior, which may undermine the dignity, self-esteem and productivity of student(s) and/or employee(s).

The College considers any form of harassment of an individual involved in College activities to be a serious violation of that individual's fundamental rights. Such conduct may be subject to a range of resolutions including mediated settlement or, in certain circumstances, disciplinary measures up to and including dismissal or expulsion.

In the evenings from Monday to Friday, campus security escorts groups to the parking lot. Groups leave from the security office, located beside the main cafeteria in “A” building, every half-hour from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Another group leaves at midnight. If you need a security guard to walk you to your car at a different time, please call 604-253-7596 and ask for pager 2212. A security guard will meet you at the security office and escort you to the parking lot.



Pay parking is in effect at all times at Langara College. Please purchase a ticket from one of the machines located in the parking lot.
